Píomh Scileanna an tSraith Shóisearach / Key Skills of new Junior Cycle
Cuidíonn príomhscileanna le foghlaimeoirí an t-eolas, na scileanna agus an dearcadh a fhorbairt chun dul i ngleic le dúshláin an lae inniu, a bhfuil cuid mhór díobh ann. Tacaíonn siad freisin leis an scoláire foghlaim conas foghlaim agus a bheith freagrach as a chuid foghlama féin. Tá béim ar 8 príomh scil.
The new Junior Cycle aims to help learners develop 8 key skills. These key skills are embedded in the teaching and planning of each subject. Key skills help learners develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to face the many challenges in today’s world. They also support students in learning how to learn and to take responsibility for their own learning.

Tá cur síos ar an bhfoghlaim atá i gcroílár na sraithe sóisearaí in 24 ráiteas foghlama. Cinnteoidh scoileanna go mbeidh gach ráiteas foghlama, in éineacht leis na príomhscileanna mar ghné de chláir scoláirí na sraithe sóisearaí ar fad.
The learning at the core of junior cycle is described in 24 statements of learning. Schools will ensure that all statements of learning, along with the key skills feature in the programmes of all junior cycle students.

Measúnú Rang Bhunaithe (MRB) / Classroom Based Assessment (CBA)
Is ionann na Measúnuithe Rangbhunaithe agus tráth a ndéanann an múinteoir measúnú ar an scoláire sa mheasúnú sonrach/sna measúnuithe sonracha a leagtar amach i sonraíocht an ábhair nó an ghearrchúrsa.
Measúnú Rangbhunaithe: Tionscadal DeiridhCuirfidh an scoláire Measúnú Rangbhunaithe amháin i gcrích bunaithe ar thorthaí foghlama i níos mó ná snáithe amháin ar an gcúrsa. Dearfar ábhar le haghaidh Measúnú Rangbhunaithe i gcomhairle leis na scoláirí. Cuspóir ar leith a bheidh ag an Measúnú Rangbhunaithe is ea aiseolas forbartha don scoláire a éascú le linn a rannpháirtíochta sa tasc agus ag deireadh an phróisis.
Is féidir an Measúnú Rangbhunaithe a tháirgeadh i bhformáid scríofa, dhigiteach, físe nó fuaime agus is féidir tacú leis sna formáidí sin trí agallamh nó cur i láthair a úsáid.
Beidh dhá MRB le déanamh ag daltaí i ngach ábhair agus tárlóidh siad i BL2 agus BL3. Is iad na múinteoirí ábhair a bheidh i bhfeighil na measúnaithe seo.
Classroom-Based AssessmentClassroom-Based Assessments are the occasions when the teacher assesses the students in the specific assessment(s) that are set out in the subject or short course specification.
Classroom-Based Assessment: Final projectStudents will complete one Classroom-Based Assessment based on learning outcomes in more than one strand of the course. The Classroom-Based Assessment will be designed in consultation with the students. A particular purpose of the Classroom-Based Assessment will be to facilitate developmental feedback to students during their engagement with the task and at the end of the process.
The Classroom-Based Assessment can be produced in written, digital, visual or audio formats and it may be supported in these formats through the use of an interview or presentation
Students will complete two classroom based assessments (CBA's) in all subjects. These are assessed by their teachers and take place in 2nd and 3rd year.

Cruinnithe AFMÁ - Athbhreithniú ar Fhoghlaim agus ar Mheasúnú Ábhair / SLAR Meetings - Subject Learning and Assessment Review
Cuireann cruinnithe don Athbhreithniú ar Fhoghlaim agus ar Mheasúnú Ábhair ar chumas múinteoirí comhleanúnachas a bhaint amach ar bhonn comhoibríoch ina mbreithiúnais ar obair an scoláire i gcoinne Gnéithe Cáilíochta coiteanna, a leagtar síos go seachtrach. Forbrófar tuiscint níos mó ar chaighdeáin agus ar ionchais de réir a chéile de réir mar a thiocfaidh múinteoirí le chéile i bplé gairmiúil chun machnamh a dhéanamh ar cháilíocht obair a gcuid scoláirí féin, agus treoir acu ó shonraíocht ábhair, treoirlínte measúnaithe agus ábhar tacaíochta eile lena n-áirítear samplaí anótáilte d’obair scoláirí arna soláthar ag CNCM.
Subject Learning and Assessment Review meetings enable teachers to collaboratively reach consistency in their judgments of student work against common, externally set Features of Quality. Greater understanding of standards and expectations will develop over time as teachers come together in professional discussion to reflect on the quality of their own students' work, informed by the subject specification, assessment guidelines and other support material including annotated examples of students' work provided by the NCCA.
